Punch Rare Corojo El Doble Single
Review by Jared York
I have smoked the Rare Corojo, on and off for the past 9 years. So when I have been asked to review this smoke I have to smile! So why the on and off relationship with this medium-to full well constructed delight? Truth is I never buy enough of them, no matter how many I pick up I seem to smoke them within a few short months due to the fact that I make them my every day smoke. If you enjoy a smoke with that much flavor it’s hard to leave them in the humidor for ageing. The size that I will be smoking today is the Corojo Crystal, the torpedo in the tube is 6 x 60.
The key to this cigar is its unique, burgundy-colored Sumatra-seed wrapper grown in the mountains of Ecuador. Its extra rich flavor, complemented by a blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican long-filler tobaccos, there are 5 tobaccos in this smoke. An Ecuador Sumatran seed wrapper, Connecticut binder, the fillers that give it the punch are Nicaragua, Honduras, and Dominican Republic.
The cut on the torpedo needs to be a little lower on the point than I would like. However the flavor is complex and consistent for cigar to cigar. There is something very reassuring about the fact that you can pick up a punch rare corojo at any time and still get those key notes that you fell in love with the first time you smoked one. I would give this smoke a strong 89!

It’s not the most famous smoke out there but it is damn good! At about $14.00 a stick it is very reasonable but if you find the Crystal tubo for less than that make sure to pick up 2 for it will be gone before you know it!
